The House of Urban and Regional History

Lively history for young and old

What does copper slate look like and how was it formed? What is a woolly mammoth doing in Saxony-Anhalt and who were its contemporaries back then? How long has the coniferous forest existed in our region and where have the floodplains remained? What are bronze treasures doing in the "Prince's Grave" and the "Thieves' Cave"? How did our ancestors fare in the Middle Ages? Our museum is made for questions like these: The history of our region can be experienced in six permanent exhibitions. And so our educational programme is primarily geared towards introducing the "little ones" to a world that seems so far away today and yet has left visible traces everywhere. For the grown-ups, on the other hand, we offer deep insights into the history of the city and the region with the Einar Schleef Centre, our library and many special exhibitions.
